Malone took the lead after 2 minutes, through a Ben McHaughey try, converted by Callum Smith. By 10 minutes, they lead 21 – 0, Matt Neil scoring twice, both converted by Smith. Tries by Dave Cave and Jules Storey followed, Smith converted both.

In a rare sortie into Malone territory Rainey managed an unconverted try, before the break, to leave the halftime score 35 – 5 in Malone’s favour.
It was one way traffic in the 2nd half with tries from Smith, Gary Andrews, Tom Dullage, Storey (2), Mike Melville (2) and McHaughey. Smith added 6 conversions, for a very comprehensive 87 – 5 victory.
