Gordon West Cup: Larne 8 Limavady 46 Final

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

Larne went into this match as defending champions, they had also just wrapped up Qualifying 3 with 14 wins from 14 and they had beaten Limavady, who finished second in the league, on the three occasions they had met previously.

Their previous meetings had been close, and no one had written Limavady off, but I don’t think anyone saw this one coming as Limavady powered to a huge win scoring eight tries in the process.

The Roesiders started the game with strongly and were on the scoreboard after three minutes with touching down after a break by .

No conversion but Limavady added to their score shortly after with prop driving over from a lineout after a botched clearance from Larne.

The defending champions were in disarray and Limavady took full advantage with scrum-half jinking through a soft defence for try no three.

Larne finally got on the scoreboard though a penalty but Limavady had the game wrapped up by half time as and Luke Faulkner both crossed to take score to 3 – 29 in Limavady’s favour.

Any thoughts of a Larne revival were quickly dispelled when Faulkner went over for his second, shortly after the restart, and with adding the conversion the score moved on to 3 – 36

The coaches started to empty their benches around the hour mark as the game became a formality.

Larne’s took one for the teams persistent offending with a ten minute rest and Limavady took advantage with crossing out wide for try number seven.

There was some let up for the East Antrim side as sent over for their only try but Limavady had the final word with replacement getting on the scoreboard with the final try.
