JWC2011: Ireland go through their paces in Cork!

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

Ireland U20’s had a run out on Sunday evening, against an experienced Munster Development team, as part of their preparation for the 2011 IRB Junior World Cup.

The U20’s played different line ups each half as they looked to finalise their selection process ahead of the competition which starts in less than four weeks time.

From an Ulster perspective the weekend got off to a bad start with wing forward suffering hamstring trouble on Friday night and now looks doubtful for the trip to Italy with this the latest setback in a spate of injuries this season.

In light of this it’s strange that Ruddock hasn’t had a look at who was at least on power with Leckey prior to his [McGuigan’s] injury in the U20’s Interpros early in the season.

With regards to the match it was good to see Ulster props and combine with fellow Ulsterman, and Ireland captain, in an all Ulster front row during the second half.

Annett’s return was particularly pleasing, after injury lay off, with the Quins hooker leading effectively and fronting up when required. A bit more game time after his long lay off would be a bonus though.

and played half about and both made good contributions though Jackson appeared to make more happen in his second half stint.

played 15-20 minutes at full-back in the 2nd half and came through with a strong performance in what was an interesting positional switch.

played the 2nd half in 2nd row with a typically tenacious outing.

No but he should figure next week with a game against Leinster Development scheduled for Sunday at Wanderers RFC.

The “Official” Squad for Italy will be announced later this week with the team meeting in Dublin on the 4th June to travel to Italy on the 6th giving them a few days to settle in before their opening fixture against England on 10th June.
