AIL 2N: Cavan 5 Carrickfergus 0

We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Thank you for your continued support of The Front Row Union Sports.

A controversial try gave Cavan the edge in this bottom of the table clash against a gritty Carrickfergus on Sunday afternoon with the home side winning by 5 – 0.

Carrick were determined to put up a good showing after their large defeat last weekend against Navan and they started strongly making several excursions into the Cavan half with and prominent.

The Co. Antrim side came close on several occasion but the Cavan defence were able to hold their line and eventually the home side worked their way into the game with No 8 making several bruising runs.

Thanks to strong defence from both sides an entertaining first half ended scoreless.

Cavan started the second half  well and soon had the visitors defending their own line but again defence dominated with Carrick making crucial turnovers and the seasiders  were able to work their way clear.

The home side continued to attack and Cavan were awarded a scrum five metres out in the centre of the pitch when it looked as though Carrick had secured possession. As so often happens, the home side took full advantage and Bridgid Reynolds capped a fine personal performance by forcing her way over for the games only score.

Carrick pressed hard for a score of their own but despite a succession of penalties, and a sustained period in the Cavan 22, the visitors were unable to get any points on the board.

As the game entered the closing stages Carrick introduced a bit more width to their game with some nice flowing moves along the backline but Cavan were dogged in their defence and the home side managed to hold on for that precious win.
