We are currently carrying out a necessary behind-the-scenes upgrade to how images are stored and delivered on The Front Row Union Sports. With over 770,000 images on the site, we are moving our entire image library to a dedicated cloud storage service. This means images will load faster for you, regardless of where you are in the world, and the site will be more reliable overall.

As we are working on three separate versions of images during the offload process, the site cache sometimes struggles to keep up with which version to display and occasionally post grid images or complete galleries may fail to appear. This is a temporary side effect of the migration process — the image exists and is safe, it is simply in the process of being moved to its new home and identified as being there. A refresh of the page will usually bring them back, however, if it does not please contact john@thefrontrowunion.com stating clearly the post address and we will restore it as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience.

We expect the bulk of the image migration to be completed by the end of June 2026, with a fully upgraded version of the site ready to launch in August 2026. Once that work is done, the site will be noticeably faster, images will load more reliably, and you will not see any further disruption of this kind. Ulster Women travelled to Sligo on Sunday for a development squad hit out against Connacht Women ahead of the Women’s Interprovincial Series which starts on Friday 31st August.

While it’s generally stated that the results in these matches aren’t important it was still a frustrating loss for Ulster who started the game brightly with Holly Brannigan getting in an early run.

Ulster opened the scoring after a break by Vicky Irwin was finished off by Beth Cregan. Jemma Jackson added the conversion and minutes later the experienced out half was on target again with a penalty as Ulster continued to exert pressure on the Connacht line.

However, that was practically it for Ulster who spent the bulk of the rest of the game under pressure in their own half.

A period of pressure close to the Ulster line saw Ilse van Staden yellow carded for holding on and shortly after the home team went over for a close range converted try.

Minutes later an interception saw Connacht race home for their second to take a 12 – 10 lead into the break.

A converted try early in the second half game Connacht a degree of control on the game at 19 – 10 and it looked as though Connacht had wrapped up the game when they crossed for their fourth to take the score to 24 – 10 with Ulster in disarray.

However a late rally from Ulster saw van Staden score, after a try by Neve Jones was ruled out, and the conversion by Irwin closed the gap to 24 – 17 in the final minutes.
