We caught up with the Women’s All Ireland League match between Cooke and Old Belvedere on Saturday afternoon at Shaws Bridge.
Despite the comparatively pleasant weather the pitch was wet and heavy underfoot which led to a stop start match taking place largely in the middle third of the pitch.
Cooke probably enjoyed the bulk of possession but they struggled to pull together their phase play and it was Old Belvedere who took the lead as Emily Byrne chased a charge down to finish under the posts. Ellie O’Sullivan Sexton added the conversion for a 7 – 0 lead after 13 minutes

Further break away tries came from Leah Nealon and Amy Larn, both converted by Sexton, as Belvo built up a 0 – 21 lead at the half hour mark.
However a strong finish to the half from Cooke ended with stalwart Ilse . . .
