On a grey overcast Saturday afternoon Instonians met Blackrock in an AIL1B fixture at Shawsbridge. On such a dreich day the floodlights had been on since warmups at 1.30pm.
Blackrock took an early 3rd minute lead through a Tim Corkery penalty goal for 3-0.
Instonians took a while to a while to settle and click. Neil Saulters was bundled over the line, at the back of a lineout maul to open Instonians account. Josh Eagleson’s conversion put Instonians 7-3 up on 16 minutes.
Blackrock replied with another Tim Corkery short range penalty goal for 6-7 after 20 minutes.
