On a damp and drizzly morning, it was great to see some sparkling hockey played in this schools friendly between Methodist College and Sullivan Upper on Saturday at Deramore Park.
A strong Methody team attacked straight from the whistle and soon took the lead when Marcus Pepper fired past the keeper from close in at a corner routine.

Sullivan responded quite quickly when Toby Aiken drove into the circle and fired past the home keeper.

It was pretty even in the first quarter until the home side regained their lead when Oliver McGreevy beat the keeper with a rising shot to the far corner.

Methody definitely stepped up a gear in the second quarter, dominating play. Firstly, Pierce Connolly increased their lead with a shot from close in and then Pepper got his second, latching on to a rebound to score.
There were no further goals in the third quarter and only the bravery of the Sullivan ‘keeper in the fourth quarter limited Methody to a single goal from close in by Dylan Maxwell, giving the home side a comfortable 5 – 1 win.
