After the hockey at Roughfort I took the long route round to the rugby pitches for the Junior Shield Group 4 match between Academy and Malone 2XI.

I arrived about 20 minutes after kick off and Academy were leading 14 – 3 after tries from Stewart Martin and Nik Kane, both converted by Michael Wilson after Malone had taken the lead with an early penalty from Tom Stanfield.

Matthew Knocket picked up Academy’s third try in the first half.

Academy went over for their third try just as I was sitting down, with Matthew Knocket scoring after a period of pressure in the Malone 22. Wilson’s conversion took the score to 21 – 3.
