On Saturday I caught up with two of our featured teams CIYMS and Academy 2nd XV’s in a Provincial East clash at Belmont.
The game started a hot one, with Academy forming a structured attack. In the 15th minute, prop Lee Russell crashed over, with out-half Tom Davis calmly slotting the conversion to give the visitors a 0 – 7 lead.
The game was quite even until, on the stroke of halftime, CI out-half Adam Mitchell spotted a small gap in the defense and dotted down for a try under the posts, making it easy for kick Michael Lawton to convert to take the score to 7 – 7 at the break.
