Championship 1: Cooke 27 Dromore 19

For once Saturday morning was quiet, with no games scheduled. On Saturday afternoon Cooke took on Dromore in a Championship One fixture at Shaw’s Bridge. A strong cold breeze blew diagonally across the pitch, initially in Dromore’s favour.

Aaron Stewart opened the scoring for Dromore

Cook took an early 5th minute lead from an Andrew McMurray penalty goal to lead 3-0 after 5 minutes. They dominated play for the next 15 minutes, camped in the Dromore 22. Dromore broke out and fast ball from a ruck saw Aaron Stewart over for a 20th minute try, converted by Adam McDonald to lead 7-3.

Despite Cooke’s territory and possession Dromore increased their lead with a Brian McLearn 35th minute try and McDonald’s conversion to lead 14-3 at halftime . . .
