I made it to Gibson Park, from the hockey at Hillsborough, for the Junior Cup Pool B clash between Malone II and rivals CIYMS at 12.30pm.
This game was scoreless for over 30 minutes. CIYMS edged territory and possession in a game played mostly between the 22s. Twice CIYMS missed easy penalty chances close to the posts, which might have come back to haunt them. As it was, Peter Caves opened the scoring for Malone with a 31st minute penalty goal for a 3-0 lead.
