I caught up with the Denman Ulster Hockey Shield match between Lurgan and Pegasus at Lurgan Junior High School on Wednesday evening.
After a day of heavy rain and strong wins I was pleased to see that the weather had settled down for the fixture with only a few spots of rain and next to no wind which enabled an entertaining game of hockey to take place.
Pegasus enjoyed the best of the opening quarter putting Lurgan under pressure from the start. However, it took Pegasus until the last minute of the quarter to break down the Lurgan defence and it was no surprise that it was Eva Wainwright who got on the end of a cross to open the scoring as she had been the busiest player on the pitch by some margin.
