Campbell set about their task with relish moving the ball wide straight from kick off. After a series of attacks Toby Thompson found space wide on the left, before grounding the ball under the posts. Rian Davies added the points to give Campbell a 7-0 lead after only 3 minutes.

Starving Methody of possession, Campbell continued to pummel the Methody line but their only reward was a further Davies penalty goal after 25 minutes to lead 10-0.
With minutes remaining in the first half Methody finally got some possession in the Campbell half and after a series of drives moving right, they moved the ball quickly to the left, working space for Ben Gillan to squeeze in in the corner for an unconverted try.
After all Campbell’s territory and possession they only had a 10-5 half time lead.
After the break play was much more even but Campbell again asserted themselves. They were held up over the Methody line and tackled into touch on the right just before the ball was grounded.

With 10 minutes to go Methody started to make possession work and laid siege to the Campbell line. A series of Methody attacks were repulsed by stout defence., which held firm until the final play. Tyrese Abolarin got under the Campbell defence to score midway out, drawing the game. Jack Tindal held his nerve to kick the winning conversion and give Methody, in some ways, an unlikely victory.
Methody now meet Sullivan in the next round after Sullivan’s win at Wallace on Saturday.
