I caught up with the first half of Quins v Navan in AIL 2B before heading up the road for the second half of the Women’s AIL game at Cooke.
Quins looked in fine shape when I left, leading as they were 15 – 0 at half time. Their first try came from a break from captain fantastic Mark Glover who broke down the right to finish up under the posts about 10 minutes in. Paul Kerr converted to push the score to 7 – 0.
An indiscipline Malahide coughed up a few penalty chances but Quins weren’t able to take advantage until Kerr knocked one over to take the score to 10 – 0 in their favour.

Malahide hadn’t shown much by the time I left, which was immediately after Quins second try, on the stroke of half time. Wing forward Eddie Gorrod finding the line after a period of pressure in the Malahide 22.
Malahide staged a remarkable second half comeback to lead 18 – 24 mid way through the second half. However a Jaz Andress try and a second penalty and conversion by Kerr put Quins back in front for a 28 – 24 win.
