We’ve been hearing a few snippets about a back row signing being in the offing. Don’t think it’s as a replacement to One F, whose future has still to be decided, but more like a replacement for young Sean Doyle who was just coming into his own when he decided to return to his native Oz.

One name we’ve heard, but haven’t confirmed, is Blues back row Brendon O’Connor who ran out in every game for the Baby Blacks in their all conquering 2009 JWC campaign where a certain Mark Anscombe was Assistant Coach. I also hear that he is, allegedly, Irish Qualified!

One that we are pretty certain of though is Lansdowne’s Charlie Butterworth who has, we believe, signed on a development contract. An out and out openside, who impressed for the Barbarians in the 13try thriller against Clontarf, he has been a regular in the Lansdowne campaign this past season.
