Women: Newry Ladies Rugby Blitz This Sunday at Newry RFC.

This Sunday, we will see the start of the Ulster development blitz for Women’s rugby hosted by Newry RFC, KO 3:30pm. The format of the blitz is tailored to suit the numbers and experience of the teams involved with safety the key concern. This blitz is primarily about getting the players a rugby experience with fun and enjoyment being the primary driver, hoping in the end everyone’s targets are met.

Newry ladies rugby club manager Mostyn Powell says that this will be a great opener to the start of the ladies season and everyone is welcome to attend on the day, “We are hoping to make this a great day for the players and their families with rugby, BBQ and refreshments”.

Rugby in Ireland has increased largely due to the recent success of the Ireland Women’s squad winning not only the 6 Nation championship, coming home with the Grand Slam. From a Development perspective Ulster clubs are growing from strength to strength, doubling their numbers in the last year, and with more females trying out and enjoying the game.
