Celtic Rugby are pleased to announce that for the first time ever Sky Sports will show live matches from the RaboDirect PRO12.

The agreement will commence at the start of the 2014/15 tournament and will last for 4 years. Sky Sports will broadcast 30 live matches per season as well as the Play-Offs and Final.

John Feehan, Chief Executive said:

The RaboDirect PRO12 features the top teams from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy. Our competition is thriving with increased numbers going through turnstiles as well as increased TV audiences.

The quality of our competition is such that 24 out of the 37 players selected for the 2013 Lions Tour to Australian play in the RaboDirect PRO 12.

We believe that this agreement with Sky will allow us to bring our Tournament to an even bigger television audience.

This is a milestone for Celtic Rugby as it is our first ever Network coverage deal in the UK and Ireland.

Celtic Rugby are still in negotiations with other broadcasters and will be announcing further agreements in due course.

The Pro12 currently has agreements with regional broadcasters BBC ALBA, BBC Northern Ireland, RTE, TG4, BBC Wales and S4C, and it . . .

  1. As someone from outside NI who watches via the webcast (thanks BBC NI, BBC Wales/Scrum V, TG4 and S4C) when can’t get to Ravenhill, the webcast is really useful. Do hope this stays with Sky and all non-local watching isn’t only via SkyGo.

  2. And John…..Jen has already made it…don’t let her “Pppfffffftttttttt” fool you. Look at her new profile picture…not only does she look younger but she has acquired the title of Pharaoh as well!! LOL ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Oh, I don’t know John, the minute I see the word Sky mentioned in any article with respect to media rights, it does not fill with a whole lot of confidence in an industry whose bottom line is ‘money’ for the lads. But anyway, will we see how it pans out.

Of course there is always the counter arguments of the BBC ‘tax’, bringing money into the sport, extending the audience, etc., this is why this is really a moot discussion which will just run and run and run.

    “lickspittle” for the win!! :p

  4. Ach Jen I thought as a major sponsor of the Women’s game you would get free tickets for Ravers! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. No read the article. Local coverage likely to continue.

  6. Is it exclusive? As in are my Friday nights with the BBC now ruined?
