PRO12: Ulster 38 Edinburgh 16

We predicted a comfortable enough win and that was exactly what we got in this entertaining outing as Ulster and Edinburgh threw the ball about in a training run atmosphere ahead of a three week break in proceedings.

Ulster’s tries came from Paul Marshall, Stefan Terblanche, Adam D’Arcy Chris Cochrane and Ian Humphreys with the sixth score coming from a penalty try. Pienarr added four conversions to give Ulster a deserved 38 – 16 win.

As is their wont, however, Ulster started slowly, with Edinburgh enjoying the opening exchanges. A straight forward move and some poor tackling saw the visitors open the scoring after four minutes with the younger Visser going over in the corner to give Edinburgh a 0 – 5 lead.

The home team eventually got their heads on the game and after a period of meaningless kicking a break from D’Arcy was moved on by Pienaar who slipped the ball inside to Paul Marshall for the scrum half to slip inside the defence to go over close to the posts. Pienaar added the extras and Ulster led 7 – 5.

Shortly after Ulster doubled their tally after a series of quick passes sent Terblanche over in the corner . . .
