We caught up with the Medallion Shield match between Sullivan Upper and Banbridge Academy at Sullivan on Saturday morning.
Sullivan had too much firepower and two tries either side of half time eased them through to the next round of this year’s Medallion Shield.
On 7 mins Sullivan worked the greasy ball wide and big centre Harry McCartney burst through from short range to put his team 5 – 0 ahead. With the rain pelting down the difficult conversion was missed.

Banbridge responded with tough physical direct play but couldn’t breach the home team defence. It was not until the half hour mark that Sullivan got another score, again from their influential outside centre McCartney who dodged and barracked his way to the try line. This time full back Ronan Naysmith hit the mark and made his conversion leaving Sullivan 12 – 0.
