We caught up with the Championship 1 clash between Cooke and Portadown at Shaw’s Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
In an entertaining encounter Cooke took the early initiative and they were rewarded with a try from Ben Pentland after 5 minutes. Andrew Hanna added the conversion for a 7 – 0 lead.
Pentland went over for his second a few minutes later and with Hanna once again converting it was 14 – 0 to Cooke with less than 10 mins played.
Portadown got into the game with a nice chip and chase from fullback Niall Davison for his first points of the day, adding his own conversion to take the score to 14 – 7.
