On Saturday Cooke 2XV faced Instonians 3XV in a ‘Battle of the Bridge’ Crawford Cup Semi Final Tie at both sides’ home venue, Shawsbridge.
A deceptively strong breeze blew down the pitch, initially in Cooke’s favour. There was nothing between the sides early on. Cooke had territory, courtesy of the breeze. They took an early lead when Ollie McKibbon kicked a short range penalty goal for 3-0 after 6 minutes.
Cooke continued to have territory. Both defences were largely on top only allowing the attacks occasional forays into their 22s.
Cooke doubled their lead with another short range Ollie McKibbon penalty goal on 37 minutes for 6-0.
