Early Wednesday afternoon Belfast Royal Academy met Grosvenor Grammar School in the final of the Burney Plate at Havelock Park.

In front of a noisy crowd, Grosvenor were first on the scoresheet with their captain, James Shields firing home from a penalty corner in the first five minutes. Grosvenor led 1-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

It took until the second quarter for any further scoring. It was then two goals in quick succession for Grosvenor’s Rory Hobbs, both from open play. Grosvenor led 3-0 at halftime
