Burney Cup: Banbridge Academy 2 Royal Belfast Academical Institution 1 Final

We caught up with the Burney Cup Final between Banbridge Academy and, defending Champions, Royal Belfast Academical Institution on Wednesday evening at Stormont.

After a keenly contested first quarter Banbridge Academy took the lead late in the fist half with a goal from the busy Charlie Taylor to give Banbridge a 1 – 0 lead at half time.

The teams battled out a scoreless third quarter before a goal from Banbridge’s Max Murphy gave them a 2 – 0 lead with three minutes remaining.

A goal from RBAI’s John Cunningham gave the defending champions a glimmer of a chance . . .
