On Saturday evening Ulster faced the Pretoria Bulls in their second United Rugby Championship game of the season at Affidea Stadium.
The Bulls had Ulster on the backfoot in the opening exchanges and pinned Ulster back.

It was against the run of play that Nathan Doak hacked on a loose ball on the halfway line for Stuart McCloskey to win the race to touchdown, receiving a bloody nose for his efforts. Nathan Doak’s conversion had Ulster 7-0 up in 21 minutes.
On 27 minutes Wilco Louw drove over from close range. Handre Pollard’s conversion tied the game at 7-7, going into halftime.
