We caught up with the first half of the U14 Girls East League Match between a combined Ards, Carrick and Donaghadee side against a combined Ballymena, Cooke and Instonians side on Sunday afternoon at Hamilton Park.
It was a lively encounter between two enthusiastic teams, well supported from the sidelines.
The Ballymena side, playing in Cooke colours, scored an early unconverted try for a 0 – 5 lead before I’d even got into position.

The Ards team enjoyed a good period of possession, which ended with their No 10 going over for a try, converted by scrum-half Isla McKellen for a 7 – 5 lead.
Ards’ second row Rebecca Quinn made the most of some good carries by her front row and back row to pick up a quick brace of unconverted tries to rattle the score along to 17 – 5 after 20 minutes.
