Stevenson Cup: Banbridge Academy 4 Strathearn School 1 Quarter Final

On Tuesday afternoon, at Havelock Park, Banbridge Academy faced off against Strathearn School in the last of the Stevenson Cup Quarter Finals. It was a chilly autumn afternoon where strong sunlight alternated with squally showers.

If Strathearn edged the early stages of the first quarter, then Banbridge finished the stronger. Neither team could unlock defences in a scoreless first quarter.

Banbridge were in control in the 2nd quarter, with the Strathearn forwards living off scraps. Despite dominance Banbridge couldn’t find the net and halftime was reached scoreless.

The Banbridge forwards pressed in the third quarter. In a crowded goalmouth Alyssa Somerville flicked home an opening goal for Banbridge to lead 1-0 on 34 minutes.
