On Monday afternoon, a schools friendly, rescheduled from Saturday, between Royal Belfast Academical Institution and Ballymena Academy was played at Osborne.

Adam Boyd scored a hat trick of tries for Inst

After a short period of Ballymena pressure, Inst intercepted and ran the ball out. From a ruck Adam Boyd forced himself over. Charlie O’Connor’s conversion had Inst 7-0 up in 7 minutes.

Andrew Purcell grabbed a brace of tries for Inst

Inst continued to press. The ball was fed right to Andrew Purcell, who had the pace to run around the Ballymena defence to dot down in the corner. Charlie O’Connor’s conversion put Inst out to 14-0 on . . .
