On Saturday, the eagerly awaited heavyweight clash between arch South Belfast rivals, Royal Belfast Academical Institution and Methodist College was played at Osborne.
A slightly subdued Inst allowed Methody to be on the front foot in early exchanges. Louis Curran’s 5th minute penalty goal gave Methody a 3-0 lead.

With Inst giving away penalties Methody were back on the front foot again. From a lineout maul Luca Vericat drove over in the right corner. Louis Curran nailed the conversion and Methody were 10-0 up in 11 minutes.
Inst settled and responded when Dylan Gray ran in from distance for Charlie O’Connor to convert to bring Inst back to 7-10 after 17 minutes.
A 26th minute Louis Curran penalty goal kept the scoreboard ticking over for 13-7 in Methody’s favour.
