CIYMS were the visitors to Shawsbridge for the Championship One clash with Cooke.
Cooke gained possession early on when CI misfielded kick off. The forwards took the ball on, and Ryan Flavelle darted over, from the base of a ruck. Andrew McMurray’s conversion had Cooke 7-0 up on 3 minutes.
Cooke camped in the CI half for the next 20 minutes but couldn’t crack the CI defence.
In a sweeping move they broke out and after the forwards had made progress within the Cooke 22 fast ball released Ewan Nelson to score in the left corner to bring CI back to 5-7.
Further CI pressure couldn’t dent the Cooke defence and Cooke led 7-5 at halftime.
