On Saturday afternoon, newly promoted Instonians welcomed Naas to Shawsbridge for the first AIL1B game of the season.
Naas opened the scoring on 7 minutes, when Tom Bohan struck over a short-range penalty goal for a 3-0 lead.
A clearance kick was fielded and moved wide to Hugo Ellerby to score to put Instonians 5-3 up after 15 minutes.
More Instonians pressure yielded a 5 metre scrum. As the squeeze came on the scrum splintered. Instonians were awarded a penalty try to move them out to 12-3 after 22 minutes.
Naas kept the scoreboard ticking over with another Tom Bohan penalty goal for 6-12 after 24 minutes, before a Tadhg Brophy try, converted by Tom Bohan gave Naas a 13-12 lead on 27 minutes.
