We caught up with the McConnell Shield Final between Ards and Portadown 2nd XI’s at Stormont Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon.

The experienced Ards side took control of this one early on with a goal in the 3rd minute from Amy Crossman and it was a lead they took into the second quarter.

Portadown pushed hard for a response with youngster Lucy Megaw putting in a lot of work but they were unable to find their touch in front of the goals and the match went into the halftime break with Ards still leading 1 – 0.
