I caught up with a couple of games in the All Ireland U14 Schoolboys John Waring Tournament held at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club on Wednesday.
Defending champions Cookstown High faced Ashton School, Banbridge Academy, Bandon Grammar, Kings Hospital School and Wesley College in a 15 game round robin contest.
Junior hockey superstar Noah Cuddy led his school to a second successive tournament win as Cookstown finished the tournament undefeated with four wins and a draw. The final table below.
We picked up the last two games played by our Featured School, Banbridge Academy, who just missed out on third place on goal difference after narrow defeats to the top two Cookstown and Wesley. However, Banbridge’s form throughout the tournament went a long way to erasing their disappointment from their sizable defeat to Cookstown in the Ferris Cup Final in March.
