We caught up with the Medallion Plate Final between Down High School and Rainey Endowed School at Gibson Park on Saturday morning.
Playing in front of a big, noisy crowd both teams were busy right from the start but it was Down who got on the scoreboard first when their big No 8, Matthew Horner burst across the line to open their account, Freddy Harris made the conversion for a 7 – 0 lead.

Harris increased the lead to 10 – 0 with a penalty before Rainey got on the score board with a penalty from Killian McDonald to take the score to 10 – 3
Down responded with a second try , this one from No 3, Joe Bailie, who stretched for the line and with Harris adding the extras they extended their lead to 17 – 3.
