In game two of a double header, at Playball, Stormont, Ballymena Academy took on Friends School in the Junior Plate Final. I took in the 2nd half.
Friends led 1-0 at the break courtesy of a Lucie O’Hara Bouvet goal with the last strike of the 1st quarter.
The 3rd quarter was fast paced with Friends holding the edge, forcing Ballymena back and at times trapping them in their own half. Despite having the lion’s share of play, Friends couldn’t breakdown the Ballymena defence. Friends led 1-0 at the end og the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter was much more open with both sides creating chances. Friends survived a goalmouth scramble, late in the quarter, as Ballymena pressed for an equaliser.
Friends held on for a 1-0 victory and take the Junior . . .
