We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Schoolgirls Junior Cup Final between Rainey Endowed School and Coleraine Grammar School at Stormont Pavilion on Tuesday afternoon.
this was a hard fought contest between two well drilled sides. However, Rainey looked to have the upper hand early in the game with only a phenomenal work rate from Coleraine’s captain Ruby Caddoo keeping them at bay.
Coleraine’s Isla Patterson was definitely the busier of the two keepers but there was nothing she could do when Rainey’s captain Alexa McCrea opened the scoring from a penalty corner on the stroke of half time to give Rainey a 1 – 0 lead as the teams changed ends.
