We caught up with the second Ulster Hockey Schoolgirls Senior Cup semi final between Portadown College and Banbridge Academy on Wednesday afternoon at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.
The game started at a lively pace and Banbridge were awarded an early penalty stroke after a tackle by Portadown’s captain Rebekah Lennon on Banbridge’s Alyssa Sommerville. Unfortunately, for Banbridge, the stroke from Ruby Johnston was saved by Makyla Stevenson. Despite both teams creating chances the opening quarter ended scoreless.

Portadown got their account up and running five minutes into the second quarter when, replacement, Martha Speers scored with her first touch after a trademark run into the D by the prolific Emily Adamson. This gave Portadown a 1 – 0 lead which they took into the break.
