Schools Cup: Rainey Endowed School 19 The Royal School Armagh 48 Semi Final

On Tuesday afternoon The Kingspan Stadium hosted the first semi final between Rainey Endowed School and The Royal School Armagh. The sun shone and a stiff breeze was initially in Rainey’s favour.

Bailey Russell gave Armagh and early lead

Armagh gained field position early on and from a driving maul Bailey Russell detached and dived over in the left corner to put Armagh 5-0 up in less than 2 minutes.

Rainey fought back. Lorcan McClarnon stepped back inside on the halfway line and found a gap in the Armagh defence. He sprinted in to dive under the posts. Owen O’Kane’s conversion put Rainey 7-5 to the good on 9 minutes.
