It was dull, grey, overcast and cold for the lunchtime push back in Denman Shield tie between Pegasus and Ulster Elks at The Dub, on Saturday. Floodlights lifted the scene but couldn’t take away from the raw cold.
Pegasus set about business from push back, trapping Elks in their half and testing their keeper. A stubborn Elks defence held out in a scoreless 1st quarter.
Eventually Pegasus pressure told. Katie McDonald was on the end of a penalty corner move to slot the ball home from an angle, after 19 minutes to put Pegasus up 1-0.
A rare Elks attack worked . . .
