With a raft of cancellations on Saturday I was able to stay close to home and catch the Ulster Hockey Senior Cup Quarter Final match between Larne and Raphoe at Lower Cairncastle Road.
It’s been quite the rejuvenation at Larne who sit atop Senior 1, battling for a third straight promotion, but they had to battle hard against an experienced Raphoe side in this lively encounter.
Raphoe had left with a share of the points in their league visit to Larne at the end of November and the teams cancelled each other out for much of the first half.

However, Larne worked themselves a 1 – 0 lead on the half hour mark as Brooke Black finished off a nice interchange to give the home team the edge as they went into the second half.
