I stayed on at Lower Cairncastle Road to catch the first half of the McConnell Shield match between Larne 2XI and Ulster University 2XI.

It was another close match between two evenly matched teams. Both sides created chances in the first half but the game was still scoreless as the darkness descended towards the end of the fist half.

However, It was double delight for Larne as the 2nd XI matched their 1st XI with a 1 – 0 win after Gillian Russell scored . . .
