I caught up with the McCambley Cup match between Cooke 3XV and Ophir at Shaws Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
This one was a bit of a cracker between two teams that liked to throw the ball about.

Cooke were first on the scoreboard with a try after eight minutes by captain Norman McKenzie who barged over from close range. Ian Patterson added the extras for a 7 – 0 lead.
Ophir responded ten minutes later with a break from deep by Ryan Caughey. The conversion was good to take the score to 7 – 7.
Cooke, who were enjoying the territorial advantage, pulled clear 19 – 7 after tries from Aaron McGroarty and Ross Withers and a conversion from Patterson.
