On a dry cool Monday afternoon Havelock Park was the venue for the Prior Shield Final between Banbridge Academy 2nd XI and Royal Belfast Academical Institution 2nd XI.
It was a very cagey opening quarter, which though Banbridge were in control of, did not produce any meaningful shots on goal. The 1st quarter ended 0-0.
Banbridge controlled the opening stages of the 2nd quarter, without threatening. As the quarter progressed Inst came back into the game. It was scoreless at halftime.
The 3rd quarter was a reversal of the 1st half, now Inst dominated. They couldn’t convert any of the plethora of penalty corners, which they had won, and the quarter remained scoreless.
The 4th quarter was similar to the 3rd, Inst were in control but lost the touch in front of goal, which would have broken the deadlock. It was scoreless at full time.
