With a Wednesday afternoon push back Banbridge Academy faced Royal Belfast Academical Institution in the 1st McCullough Cup Tier Semi Final at Shaw’s Bridge. A yellow Met Office weather warning was for high winds and rain.
Despite the challenging conditions both teams displayed skills in a high tempo, fast paced game, which swung backwards and forwards across both halves.
From push back both teams left nothing on the pitch as the ball was moved quickly through the midfield to forwards. Keepers were in action early on.

John Cunningham’s strike from an 11th minute penalty corner opened Inst’s account and gave Inst a 1-0 1stquarter lead.
As the rain fell on a scoreless 2nd quarter, there was no lessening of the match tempo. Inst lead 1-0 at halftime.
