I caught up with the refixed Girls U18 Cup match between a combined Banbridge, Larne, Malone and Ophir side against Virginia at Rifle Park on Sunday afternoon.
I found out on my arrival that the match had been conceded by Virginia due to playing numbers. However, the combine side shared out some of their players and an entertaining game went ahead.
The Banbridge combined side started well and ran in three tries with Niamh Fulton, Hanna Lennon and Nicole Penny all crossing. The latter was converted by Maebh Hull for a 17 – 0 lead.
The Virginia side worked hard to get into the game and were unfortunate to have a fantastic break from their full back held up over the line.
A late burst from the Banbridge side saw second tries for Lennon and Fulton, one converted to take the score . . .
