Women’s Premiership: Banbridge 7 Queen’s University 32

On Sunday Afternoon Banbridge faced Queens in a Women’s Premiership game at Rifle Park. It was a grey, overcast, dreek afternoon. The light rain was only punctuated by periods of heavy rain.

Neither side could come to terms with the conditions. Knocks on led to plethora of scrums and intermittent penalties.

The deadlock was final broken after 17 minutes when Zara Martin drove over from close range. Megan Creighton’s conversion put Queens 7-0 up.

Defences cancelled each other out, in a game mostly played between the 22s for the next 20 minutes.

Jemma Farrell scored Banbridge’s try

Eventually quick thinking by Jemma Farrell saw her cross beside the posts. Her conversion levelled the score after 38 minutes.
