Schools Cup: Ballyclare High 33 Lurgan College 5 Group A

I caught up with the Ulster Rugby Schools Cup Group A match between Ballyclare High and Lurgan College at Rashee Road on Saturday morning.

Ballyclare started the game strongly keeping Lurgan pinned in their own half for most of the first quarter. It took them some time to break down the resolute Lurgan defence but they eventually got over the try line 19 minutes in when Paddy McCleary crashed over from close range. James Woodside added the conversion to give Ballyclare a 7 – 0 lead.

Zach Thompson scores in the corner for Ballyclare.

The home team added a second try just before the break when Zach Thompson finished off a nice break in the midfield to score in the corner. Woodside knocked over the difficult conversion to give Ballyclare a 14 – 0 lead at half time.
