Championship 2: Carrickfergus 34 CIYMS 26

We caught up with the top two in Championship 2 as second placed Carrick welcome league leaders CIYMS to Tom Simms Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon.

There was a strong wind blowing down the pitch and Carrick had the advantage in the first half though it took them a while to break down the CIYMS defence.

Matty Hatton Sprints clear for Carrick’s first try.

Carrick got their break 22 minutes in when Matty Hatton picked a fine line to leave the CI defence flat footed for their opening try. Adam White added the extras to give Carrick a 7 – 0 lead.

Carrick were finding a bit of joy when they game the ball some air and they ran in a second four minutes later as Fionn McCormack finished off a nice break down the left wing.
