All Ireland Hockey: Ulster University Elks 3 (7) Pegasus 3 (5) AR.

I was looking forward to this game all week as Ulster’s finest went head to head in the Women’s All Ireland Hockey League at Jordanstown Sports Village on Saturday afternoon.

My only disappointment was that the prodigious young talent, Annie Cunningham, didn’t get a run out for Pegasus as I’m keen to see her at this level after she starred for the all conquering Royal School Armagh last season.

However, those on the pitch, didn’t disappoint as this was a top class scrap between two quality sides with a nice “local derby” edge to it.

Beth Scott celebrated the opening goal for Elks.

Elks were quickest out of the blocks and they opened the scoring after four minutes when Beth Scott found herself in space to beat Megan Todd on the right for a 1 – 0 lead which they took into the second quarter.
