We caught up with the final day of the of a three match series between Ulster U16 Girls and their counterparts at Hockey Mentors, a UK based community interest initiative for performance state school players.
The match at Belfast High School started in a light drizzle but it didn’t dampen the spirits in an entertaining game. Ulster got of to a good start with Bonnie Connor-Boyd forcing a penalty corner after a strong run into the D. Katie Leslie laid up the resulting corner and Connor-Boyd smashed it int the net for the opening score, giving Ulster a 1 – 0 lead.

The home side didn’t get a chance to rest on their laurels as Mentors put the under immediate pressure and seven minutes later Olivia Holme drove in a penalty corner to take the score to 1 . . .
